Florida Home Inspectors are totally unregulated!
It is truly scary. In Florida, there are no regulations or licensing requirements to become a home inspector. For prospective home buyers, it's a huge risk. Avoid placing your home buying decision, the largest financial investiment of your life, with an inexperienced, unqualified, and uninsured person. Often I am called in to inspect a home after a client hired a cheap inspector and only received a 30 minute walk thru with a two page check list left in the mailbox. A quality inspection takes two to three hours. A professional inspector is at least a member of ASHI, is insured, and will provide you a narrative writtten report with color photographs by the end of the next day, that should be at least 15 pages plus a summary, index and photos.
